Introducing the Palmetto Prize for Excellence in K-12 South Carolina History Education
She came to a land of doubt and trouble, and led the children to fresh horizons and a clearer sky. The school she built is but the symbol of a great influence; there it stands, making the desert blossom, and bidding coming generations look up and welcome ever-widening opportunities. Through it she brought hope to a people, and gave them the one gift that is beyond all price to men.
